I love Royal Abbott, I just find him very compelling, and I'm hoping someone who sees this does too, or gives Outer Range a try and comes to see what I see in him too. I love how quiet he is except when he's pushed past his limits, I love not knowing what things are secrets he's keeping and what things are secrets even he doesn't know about himself, I love all the uncertainty and the vastness and the way he's just trying to be in the face of all that. I love that he is both the outsider and the core. I love the intensity of his interactions with everybody and everything and the way he seems to need to keep his own counsel because of how intense it all is. Or maybe it's because of how perplexing it all is. (And I love a character who's in charge but not, competent but lost.) I'd like to think there are both biographical and intrinsic reasons for him to be the way he is. I like him best out on the ranch by himself--or if at home or in the town still somehow by himself, even when he's trying to be part of people and sometimes even succeeding at it.
I think this is relevant for this moment in Royal and Cecilia's marriage, the way separately and together, they're trying to understand (or even just process) and respond to all the difficult, testing, and insane things that are happening to/around them. They're close but apart, a unit but individuals, intimate but full of secrets or simply moments and interior evolutions they have to face on their own. They try to connect and to continue to be there for each other, even while they've each got their own spheres and beliefs and trials, anguishes and despairs (and mysterious animal encounters). I'm also interested in Royal and that buffalo and mysterious encounters in general with nature, the land, and time.
I love how in the show, everything is simultaneously beautiful and bewildering, big and intimate, contained and out of control, and the whole thing is about the tension between throwing yourself to that and trying to make some kind of order. I liked how it told a complete story while leaving many things up in the air, and if you'd like to fill in details or continue the story or delve into what you think happened or just show Royal apart from the moment the show finds him in, I think there's a lot of richness to explore.

I love how quiet he is except when he's pushed past his limits, I love not knowing what things are secrets he's keeping and what things are secrets even he doesn't know about himself, I love all the uncertainty and the vastness and the way he's just trying to be in the face of all that. I love that he is both the outsider and the core. I love the intensity of his interactions with everybody and everything and the way he seems to need to keep his own counsel because of how intense it all is. Or maybe it's because of how perplexing it all is. (And I love a character who's in charge but not, competent but lost.) I'd like to think there are both biographical and intrinsic reasons for him to be the way he is. I like him best out on the ranch by himself--or if at home or in the town still somehow by himself, even when he's trying to be part of people and sometimes even succeeding at it.
I love how in the show, everything is simultaneously beautiful and bewildering, big and intimate, contained and out of control, and the whole thing is about the tension between throwing yourself to that and trying to make some kind of order. I liked how it told a complete story while leaving many things up in the air, and if you'd like to fill in details or continue the story or delve into what you think happened or just show Royal apart from the moment the show finds him in, I think there's a lot of richness to explore. I'm also interested in Royal and that buffalo and everyone's mysterious encounters in general with nature, the land, and time.
This one's more of a dark request, seeing as Wayne (and arguably, Royal too) is a darker character. I'm interested in the fact that Wayne was there when Royal first came up through the hole in time, and in the fact that they all grew up around each other and saw--whether they understood it or not--what each of them was and became. It doesn't have to be shippy in a traditional way; it could be twisty, unrequited, disallowed, just intense but platonic, surprisingly nice at some point in their lives...really, whatever you can think of, and perhaps I should have nominated the & form of these as well, so feel free to explore anywhere along the range from & to / for these!

I'll admit it, I really want to see these characters together for aesthetic and fannish history reasons. I find both characters compelling in their own right, though. I'd love to see The Military's commanding statesman/conservative general and Tormada's confident, fearless, ruthless, lyrical, bomb-stroking scientist interact. And now with season three, there's a lot more to Tormada, and they have had their one-and-only explosive meeting, which was delicious. I loved the confrontational chemistry, Tormada's certainty and The Military's turn to anger.
I think it'd be possible to engineer some kind of scenario, whether missing scene or AU, to bring them together some more (for whatever definition of together, shippy or not, porny or not, dark or not as dark, antagonistic or not exactly). Maybe encounters in the military context (whether before or during canon and Tormada's rogue conspiracy), or maybe a secret backstory, canon divergence in which The Military is the one involved in the coup, or even some sort of very canon-divergent survival happens (I could see an interesting prisoner scenario)?
I'm perfectly happy for lots of handwaving to happen to make this possible. I just want to indulge in the interaction, whatever direction you take with it!

When the putting-himself-on-the-line is needed, Nick gets down to it and does it, even when he's tired and scared and it's dangerous: it made me think of John. They have some similar experiences, similar responsibilities and supports in their teams. Nick is younger/earlier in his career (the timelines don't 100% work out, but I'm happy for that to be handwaved/AUed or treated as a relevant factor) and from a different country, so their experiences are just different enough that the contrast would be interesting too. I'd like to see them bonding over these things or maybe facing something in the line of duty together. It would be interesting to see what they'd make of each other if they were AUed to be the same age, or to see something of an age-and-experience difference relationship if you keep to their canonical timelines.

I think it was the scene in which Bosworth watches MacMillan pay to go to town on the "smash a car" that really cinched it for me. We see in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special that the Guardians are in the process of turning Knowhere into their HQ. What is it like for Mantis and Nebula to create homes for themselves?
These two haven't interacted much in the canon (yet!), but there's so much potential here. Neither women are great at expressing themselves through words, but there's a lot of room for nonverbal communication, especially with Mantis's empathetic powers. Nebula doesn't always understand her own emotions, so Mantis's ability to read her emotions could be a really interesting foil for her. Mantis is a darker and more complex character than a lot of people give her credit for and I think Nebula is one of the few characters who wouldn't infantilize her. (Based on Mantis & Drax's banter, I bet Mantis would be delighted by Nebula's dark sense of humor as well.)

The two characters are very different - we see them butt heads quite often in the show - but there's obvious respect between them. I especially appreciate the moments when Princess Carolyn acts as a mentor figure to Diane, and Diane allows herself to be guided by PC.

Post-Interview Reactions:Their differences are most clearly highlighted by how different their relationships with Bojack are. I would love to see something that compares their responses to Bojack's fate in season 6. Perhaps PC and Diane processing Bojack's coverup of Sarah Lynn's death together? Or them following Bojack's trial and sentencing together? How does each woman initially react? PC and Diane have very different instincts when it comes to protecting Bojack, so how does that come into play in each of their reactions? Do their differences in response impact their relationship? Post-Canon Catch-Up: I'd love to see how they stay in each other's lives post-canon. Diane is in Texas at this point, so they likely don't stay as close as they were when they saw each other regularly. I initially started watching Dirk Gently for a good dosage of HoYay ft. pretty boy Elijah, so I honestly feel bamboozled by how hard I fell for Ken & Bart's relationship. I love everything about their season 1 dynamics. Bart not understanding why she keeps Ken alive, but recognizing that she does. Ken going from terrified to awe of Bart, to wanting to stay by her side! I didn't even know I had such a strong loyalty kink until these two. Bart's face at the end of season 1 when Ken says, "I'm not going anywhere"? Made my cold dead heart come back to life.
And then, the tragedy of season 2? Ken captured and imprisoned in solitary confinement, so desperately believing in Bart until he realized he had to save himself? Ken, who despite his personality, still had that kernel of darkness inside him all along? And Bart! Desperately looking for her friend all season, only to be reunited with a version of him that came back to her all wrong? The way that season ends, with both of know knowing that she has to kill himand that she won't? That she would defy the universe's orders for him still? kjasdhfkjadshf Season 2 was All Hurt, No Comfort.

Would love to see Ken and Todd bonding over being holistic companions, or Bart getting into bizarre (and destructive!) hijinks with the Rowdy 3.
