I have an entirely inappropriate crush on Sulla because of these books, and I shipped Sulla/Metrobius long before I discovered the existence of fanfic. I love that their relationship spans so many decades, and what starts as pure lust turns into something genuine. Metrobius is Sulla’s touchstone in many respects, his link to his former self, which is somehow far more open and truthful than his patrician persona.

Some prompts:

+ A Five Times fic through the ages, giving Metrobius’s POV from that first meeting with Sulla through to Sulla on his deathbed (*Underage sex is a DNW and in the canon, Metrobius is most definitely underage when they meet. Implied sex in the same vein as canon is fine but I’d prefer anything more graphic to take place when Metrobius is older).

+ Sulla thinks he knows everything about Rome’s underworld. Metrobius takes him out incognito one night and shows him what it’s really like.

+ I would love a fic set in the Roman theatre, either from the POV of Sulla watching Metrobius perform or from Metrobius’s perspective as an actor on stage. Plutarch calls Metrobius a ‘female impersonator’, so you could go with him playing the archetypal virtuous maiden, or, as McCullough does, have Metrobius transition from playing female roles to the lead male such as the Swaggering Soldier. The first time he steps on stage as a male character could make for a really interesting piece.

Marcus is a good match for her (though he starts off as a bit of a knob, but hey, ancient Roman man) – hot, clever, patrician - and I wish the series hadn't ended on such a downer for them as a pair.

+ Claudia and Marcus get together at last, either in a one-off night that doesn’t solve anything, or a fic set in the future when Claudia is an old woman reminiscing to a scandalised listener about how Marcus finally won her over.

+ Case fic! Someone kidnaps Claudia’s beloved cat and she enlists Marcus’s help to rescue Drusilla. Or Marcus witnesses something he shouldn’t and needs Claudia’s assistance. Or perhaps someone claims they know of Claudia’s seedy past and tries to blackmail her, and that someone has connections within Augustus’s government, so she needs Marcus’s patrician influence as well as her own wits to neutralise the threat.

+ Marcus’s patrician family are celebrating a festival or private event. Claudia turns up to supply the wine and an already-inebriated family member thinks she’s Marcus’s new girlfriend and insists on introducing her to everyone. Claudia decides to play along to wind Marcus up, but the event takes an unexpected turn.

I love Royal Abbott, I just find him very compelling, and I'm hoping someone who sees this does too, or gives Outer Range a try and comes to see what I see in him too. I love how quiet he is except when he's pushed past his limits, I love not knowing what things are secrets he's keeping and what things are secrets even he doesn't know about himself, I love all the uncertainty and the vastness and the way he's just trying to be in the face of all that. I love that he is both the outsider and the core. I love the intensity of his interactions with everybody and everything and the way he seems to need to keep his own counsel because of how intense it all is. Or maybe it's because of how perplexing it all is. (And I love a character who's in charge but not, competent but lost.) I'd like to think there are both biographical and intrinsic reasons for him to be the way he is. I like him best out on the ranch by himself--or if at home or in the town still somehow by himself, even when he's trying to be part of people and sometimes even succeeding at it.

I think this is relevant for this moment in Royal and Cecilia's marriage, the way separately and together, they're trying to understand (or even just process) and respond to all the difficult, testing, and insane things that are happening to/around them. They're close but apart, a unit but individuals, intimate but full of secrets or simply moments and interior evolutions they have to face on their own. They try to connect and to continue to be there for each other, even while they've each got their own spheres and beliefs and trials, anguishes and despairs (and mysterious animal encounters). I'm also interested in Royal and that buffalo and mysterious encounters in general with nature, the land, and time.

I love how in the show, everything is simultaneously beautiful and bewildering, big and intimate, contained and out of control, and the whole thing is about the tension between throwing yourself to that and trying to make some kind of order. I liked how it told a complete story while leaving many things up in the air, and if you'd like to fill in details or continue the story or delve into what you think happened or just show Royal apart from the moment the show finds him in, I think there's a lot of richness to explore.

I'll admit it, I really want to see these characters together for aesthetic and fannish history reasons. I find both characters compelling in their own right, though. I'd love to see The Military's commanding statesman/conservative general and Tormada's confident, fearless, ruthless, lyrical, bomb-stroking scientist interact. And now with season three, there's a lot more to Tormada, and they have had their one-and-only explosive meeting, which was delicious. I loved the confrontational chemistry, Tormada's certainty and The Military's turn to anger.

I think it'd be possible to engineer some kind of scenario, whether missing scene or AU, to bring them together some more (for whatever definition of together, shippy or not, porny or not, dark or not as dark, antagonistic or not exactly). Maybe encounters in the military context (whether before or during canon and Tormada's rogue conspiracy), or maybe a secret backstory, canon divergence in which The Military is the one involved in the coup, or even some sort of very canon-divergent survival happens (I could see an interesting prisoner scenario)?

When the putting-himself-on-the-line is needed, Nick gets down to it and does it, even when he's tired and scared and it's dangerous: it made me think of John. They have some similar experiences, similar responsibilities and supports in their teams. Nick is younger/earlier in his career (the timelines don't 100% work out, but I'm happy for that to be handwaved/AUed or treated as a relevant factor) and from a different country, so their experiences are just different enough that the contrast would be interesting too. I'd like to see them bonding over these things or maybe facing something in the line of duty together. It would be interesting to see what they'd make of each other if they were AUed to be the same age, or to see something of an age-and-experience difference relationship if you keep to their canonical timelines.

I loved this game's beautiful alien world, the way it treats growing up and character development, the initially utopian-seeming society that isn't quite so while keeping an overall hopeful tone, and everything about the time loop and how others react to Sol's 'dreams', so anything that digs into any of those aspects more would be amazing.
I would prefer if you kept Sol's name to one of the canon names or another that starts with Sol-, and for the romance ships, I'd prefer either a same-gender or genderqueer Sol.

Anemone & Sol: Doing some fun to help distract Nem and help her deal after her breakup. Staying connected even as this Sol disagrees with her turn towards militarism. Dys/Sol/Sym: Extended version of that scene in the ridge after Dys runs away (maybe they stay the full night instead of heading back right away?). Three's a crowd in a vat but they have a good time regardless. Designing and building a house that will make all three of them happy. Sym comes to rescue Sol and Dys, except it turns out they tripped into the sex pollen flower field. Being understanding of Sol's time loop weirdness doesn't mean it can't throw them off guard.

I love all the robots in FO4 and the exploration of what counts as a 'person', and for Nick, the question of identity and what you are when you have someone's memories but aren't them (and are a synth but aren't like any other synth). How is their relationship going to be different once Aoi returns to their normal self and relieves the Princess, and what does Aoi think of everything Itsuki did to bring them back? Would also be down for any kind of pre-canon adventure or few with the two of them.
Itsuki & Hanae & Zenko: What went on with Hanae and Zenko during those months Itsuki never showed at school? What is their friendship like as they get older and (at least Hanae and Zenko presumably) look into going to university, or after they graduate, especially if they end up going to different schools (maybe Itsuki doesn't go at all, maybe Zenko wants to go to a Buddhist university?). Or maybe they grow closer because they don't have anybody else to talk to about being humans involved with youkai. Something goes wrong with one of them and it takes the other two to help them out.
Executive/Itsuki: There's so much potential for these two to have such a complicated relationship – Itsuki is a human who lives in the youkai world, and the Executive hates humans; but he's also the master of the Mononokean and the ward of Aoi, who the Executive was apparently fond of, and an impressive student. There's this push/pull between them with the whole almost-killing-Ashiya incident and the way the Executive touches him. How might that dynamic change post-canon with Itsuki finishing growing up, Aoi back in at least some form, and Hanae out of the picture for the moment? Perhaps without Hanae around, Itsuki ends up overworking himself, and the workaholic Executive spots it? Or perhaps Itsuki starts having nightmares (of giant flaming Aoi pinning him down? Hanae almost getting killed? all of the above?) and the Executive gets involved when it's clear he's exhausted. The Executive has a Chinese motif, so perhaps he would be useful to consult if the Mononokean receives a request from a Chinese youkai or something related to China?

Karate dads still have a lot to work out. I loved the era of them co-teaching so give me more of that, with wholesome conversations or awkward dojo sharing or outsider POV with the kids. Pining and growing feelings realization are great. Also love the idea of a road trip, maybe a s5 AU? You can put Daniel in a non monogamous marriage or poly situation or leave Amanda out, but I do think it's fun to read about her being supportive. I like the idea of Daniel feeling bad about Johnny's situation and inviting Johnny to a holiday thing at his house or spending a holiday with Johnny (any holiday would do). You can also get a little wacky with the plot since the show definitely does that :) Maybe a curse has been placed on the karate meet by Kreese or a witch etc. and they have to race to save the kids. Or they are forced to work together to break some other Cobra Kai plan. I like when they have to confront their alternative parenting styles, so including any of the kids is good with me. If you want to write smut, seeing their competitiveness play out in the bedroom even with power plays, dirty talk, and manhandling or BDSM would be great.

The first season of this show was officially summarized as "a brilliant antiquities expert and a cunning art thief who team up to catch a ruthless terrorist who funds his attacks through stolen treasure." And season two continued that theme very well, with similar levels of drama and hijinks and romance and adventure (though feel free to ignore that canon if it's less accessible; I know it switched to streaming there in the middle). So give me more of Danny and Lexi, with or without their canon friends (and frenemies)!

More adventures and mysteries, or more from their past, or sexy downtimes, or what happens next after Season 1 (either between seasons, or in a post-Season 1 AU), or more serious themes about justice and history if inspiration strikes. For this exchange, what if Nick Hawley had been a little more invested from the start; or perhaps came back, and yep, still had a crush on her? He's a little more Indiana Jones than Ichabod is, and I am here for some fun adventurousness if you want to go down that road.

Or for gen: I loved the complicated relationship between the sisters Mills and how it gradually strengthened over the show; how their past continued to have repercussions but ultimately didn't define them. I loved them being part of the same team and solving the supernatural issue of the week, each using their own strengths. I would love to read more about them in happier times; or discovering more about their heritage together; or discussing the weirdness of their lives; or just figuring out how to be sisters again after all the years of separation and perceived betrayals.

Does some other bad guy the Expendables are chasing crash through Sommerton Junction? Or is Ray's mercenary boyfriend just visiting? I'd just love to see Ray and Barney interacting, with or without anyone else from their casts; really, anything would be great here.

Hutch Mansell & John Wick

I do really enjoy the whole aesthetic of the John Wick movies; all the worldbuilding, John being reluctant to get dragged back into the life but still supremely badass with it, his complicated relationships with the others in that world, the fact that he did try for a normal life even if it ended roughly, the works.

Nobody was basically lower-key John Wick without as much worldbuilding. Hutch also had an extremely badass reputation, an attempt to get out of the life, complicated relationships with those from his former world... but I don't know, it seemed like less regret for giving up on normality and admitting who he really is? I'd love to see Hutch and John crossing paths, whether Hutch's business (new or previous) took him into one of the Continentals, whether John knew him before or whether Hutch gets recruited into John's war against the High Table, just some excuse for them to be extreme badasses together and maybe talk a little about the dichotomy of being who they are yet trying to leave and what that meant to them. Any ships welcome, though I'd prefer the wives don't get written out of the picture.

Eliot Spencer/John Wick

Badasses equally strong in their own field, that can keep up and compliment each other, are a particular favorite trope of mine. Leverage is as much competence porn as John Wick is, in its own more humorous and less bloody way; seems like two great tastes might taste great together!

So - did John know Eliot during the latter's Moreau-era hitter days - another part of either's past that might come up to complicate his present? Might John have reached out to Eliot at some point during the events of the movies, for backup or a safe place to rest between fights? Or what if a Leverage investigation crossed with the assassin underworld somehow? Eliot and his hairflip running up against the Baba Yaga, realizing *after* they're both bruised, bloody, and impressed that they're not actually opponents, then wreaking hell upon the actual bad guy (and wrecking each other in more pleasurable ways afterward) seems like it might be a lot of fun. But whatever inspires you is sure to entertain me regardless. :)

I have seen all of Leverage canon, including the first 25 episodes of Leverage: Redemption, but you can feel free to either include or ignore the sequel canon as you like.

Buffy Summers/Sean Renard

I always enjoy the idea of pairing Buffy up with badass men from other canons. And she *does* like a little monster in her man....

Is Buffy one of Sean's contacts post-Chosen, for things more on the supernatural than the wesen side? He does seem to have a lot of those around the world! Does she jump in to save his life from a demon at some point, and is surprised by his capability? Or vice versa? Or do they meet across the table in some negotiation, as he does with the Resistance? Lots of actiony and politicky and sexy possibilities, there. Their own canon companions' reactions to the other partner could be fun, too. [And if later in Grimm canon, maybe she's able to talk him off the ledge a little before he gives in to Black Claw? :)]

The possibility of this friendship occurred to me after rewatching Deep Blue Sea, and then seeing The Meg - I just think it would be awesome to see these two shark-fighting and -surviving badasses shooting the shit together or commiserating about their experiences or going wreck-diving together or fighting some other shark-related disaster, in either canon setting, or something new!

I don't care for completely amoral/sadistic takes on Riddick or any other protagonist or antihero character, but canon levels of dark humor, violence, and brutal pragmatism are what I'm in the fandom for. All tropes and divergences and worldbuilding that don't violate my DNWs are also great, if you want to play with Furyan biology or the Necromonger religion or include soulmates or anything else that strikes your fancy - so long as the fic ends on a positive note! Or even for this exchange, how might romantic traditions have changed in such a far-flung gritty future? Any rating welcome.

Low-budget scifi bottle movies always leave me with so many questions. These guys have been trapped together, waking up from stasis only to bicker and spend a couple of hours checking on whether it's safe to revive their Noah's Ark facility yet and then going right back to sleep again when it isn't, for how many years? Clearly it hasn't been good for their mental health, and they weren't really prepared for their job or even friends beforehand. But they've bonded intensely anyway. Even after disaster strikes and they go straight for each other's throats, Bauer's practically last words are for Cartwright to take care of the wife he's been keeping a secret (and hallucinating) all that time, like he's fine with the fact that Cartwright won.

So tell me more stories of these two guys stuck in post-apocalyptic hell keeping each other company! They clearly still have bodily functions, even if they're only awake a couple of hours at a time - do they ever sit down for actual meals? What were the first few panicky days like when they got sent there in the first place? What if the hallucinatory Abby (aka Cartwright's subconscious) started nudging him more in Bauer's direction to keep him a little saner? What else do they do together in those gaps between caretaking tasks? Might they ever get horny and blow off steam together, pretending until they can't anymore that that's just maintenance too? Do they ever wake up on any particular day of significance and bicker about that too - for example, Valentine's Day?

If you want to set it all before the events of the movie and not deal with Bauer's canon fate, that's fine; echoing the bottle theme in the fic! I could also see a fascinating fic if Cartwright starts hallucinating Bauer *and* his wife afterward, and Bauer doesn't go away even after everyone else wakes up in the epilogue. But I would be really thrilled if you found a way to save Bauer, even - or especially - if that complicates things more afterward. :)
