I do like crossovers, fusions, and AUs, and am not opposed to "mundane" AUs on principle, but II is one of those settings where a lot of who the characters are as people is wrapped up in that specific corporate dystopian, recently post-war setting, and drastic changes in setting should ideally be cognisant of that.
Relationships:
Brian Decker/Tony Xu: I would absolutely love something for this ship. The grumpy ex-corporate-security guy perpetually cosplaying a noir detective and his smartass tech-savvy but more field-inexperienced coworker; sometimes they risk their lives together. It's almost a James Bond/Q dynamic, if Bond were a perpetually recovering and likely suicidal alcoholic and Q were also a field agent. I don't have a ship manifesto but I have a LOT of writing on AO3 for these two if you wanna know more. What I love about this ship is that these two are drastically different people with seemingly almost nothing in common - except, of course, their hatred or disdain for the corporations that have made their lives hell, and the pain caused by that, even if their coping mechanisms were extremely different. It's interesting to see these two overcoming the fronts they put up and their assumptions about each other. I also headcanon Tony as grey-ace and would enjoy seeing that explored more, in this or other ships.
Alex "Sharp" McTeague/Tony Xu: These two have known each other for 20+ years and presumably met while doing research. They have a lot of history together, and their banters are full of petty rivalry and and frenemy-like behaviour, but could there be more to it? Sources say yes. What I love about these two is the idea that they were both highly-neurodivergent misfits in their environment who did not have a particularly smooth relationship but still found a connection with each other they haven't had with anyone else. Or, to be brief, they're both Weird Nerds. Given Sharp's whole thing, you are also welcome to go crazy with transhumanist themes.

Fandom-specific DNWs: Canon-typical homophobia being treated as nonexistent, Mal and Simon falling into a neat dommy/subby binary as many interpretations of this ship tend to do. The events of Serenity the movie being treated as canon if we're being honest.
I rewatched the show a few years back and this ship got me good. Whether you want to write it as more leaning towards slash or pre-slash or more platonic is fine by me, but hear me out. Mal and Simon are two sides of the same coin, and most of their tension and bickering in the show are the result of both trying to protect their Designated Protected Person(s) and not knowing if the other is a threat to that or not. Some of the driving force of the show is Mal trying to decide if Simon and River are crew or a threat to his crew. I think a lot of Firefly fans who aren't obsessed with Simal miss is that Simon is so very angry, and in a way he represents a younger, more idealistic version of Mal who's still new to the injustices of the world and is still early in the process of being embittered by it.
At the same time, god, if Inara is Mal's type, then Simon so obviously is too. Pretty-faced high-society educated person who keeps talking back at him, and is a fish out of water but takes to the criminal lifestyle somewhat better than expected? Hell yes. Mal and Simon struggling with their difference in rank and roles as captain and medic and the potential danger in not keeping things distant and professional? Hell yes. Mal struggling with the fact that he's into both of them (feel free to sprinkle this with some internalised biphobia if you like)? Hell yes.
I also love me some (realistically) BAMF!Simon and Simon getting the opportunity to shine in situations that play to his strengths (like the entirety of the Ariel episode). I also read him as fairly closeted and likely not having been really free to explore his same-sex attraction in his previous life on Osiris, with the pressure to be respectable and reflect well on his family. His canonical flirting with Kaylee is meant to show him as awkward, but honestly to me it just reads like a closeted gay guy who's desperately trying to fake it till he makes it because things would be SO much easier if he were just attracted to the pretty girl mechanic who's super into him.
You are welcome to keep this in understated UST territory, I'm a sucker for that.

I'm really intrigued by these two and their opposing worldviews - Mad Dog seems to practically hail from an era of chivalry, he holds views about death and violence that are distinctly old-fashioned and Romantic (in the generic sense of the word). Sundown Kid seems far more pragmatic. I would like to see Mad Dog grapple with the fact that Sundown keeps showing him mercy, again and again, even as he considers it to be an insult. I would like to see Sundown face the idea of getting attached to someone, after he lost the last things he loved so violently.
A friend and I have also toyed with the idea of a modern or even post-modern (vaguely post-apocalyptic?) AU for this. It would be challenging to pick a more modern setting that still allows for the core Western themes and the dynamic between the characters, but hardly impossible, and could be quite fun. Definitely works better in a post-apoc setting.

There is one specific thing I would love to see explored here, and that is Hank coming to terms with Connor's sentience.
In the game, he's obviously very emotionally affected by Connor's human-like behaviour, in part because he's still mourning his son, but what about the intellectual side of that? What does Hank think every time Connor disobeys an order, or does meaningless little things like stare at himself in the mirror for just too long? Does Hank wonder what Connor is thinking, what's going on in that computer brain of his? I assume the multiple mirror scenes in the game are a reference to the mirror self-recognition test, which is reasonably common knowledge enough that Hank might be aware of it. At what point does he realise Connor is, or is at least in the process of becoming, something far more than a machine?
On the whumpier and related side, here's a specific prompt I would absolutely love to see written: Hank reacting to Connor's interrogation of the three androids in the Public Enemy chapter turned scrabbling fight for his life while calling Hank for help. In the game, the canonical path is Connor being a BAMF and powering through it to take down the escaping deviant, and we never see Hank's reaction to his injuries or near-death experience (unless the timer runs out and Connor dies). I would love to see this rectified. Maybe after the incident, Connor crashes and has to get repaired while Hank accesses his feed recording to understand what the hell went so wrong there. I love the idea of Hank coming to face the fact that this "machine" was acting just as desperate not to die as any living thing, and called for his help, and while he probably could rationalise it as pure calculation, it would not be easy, and would probably shake him up quite a bit.

I would love something set closer to the current point in canon that explores, through the lens of their once-animosity and confusing (at least one-sided) UST, how these two have changed as people over the course of the story. There's so much potential here
If you want to take it in a more shippy direction, that's fine too, but I would prefer it be done in a way that is cognisant of all the various obstacles to making it work - V's messy divorce, Belkar's... everything, their personal very messy history of antagonism together that only gradually petered out into more or less having each other's back.
If you have a fun canon divergent idea (e.g. "What if Belkar had gotten stuck on the ship with Vaarsuvius rather than out with Haley and Celia?"), that's great too!

Cleo and Harry have a very will-they/won't-they relationship, with lots of very good period-specific reasons they can't get together. Those reasons are all perfectly valid in the context of the books, but for this exchange, I'd love to see them move straight to "yes, they will and they do."
Maybe something happens to reconcile Cleo's aunt and uncle to the match. Maybe Harry and Cleo get carried away after a difficult or near-death experience and then have to deal with the consequences. After all the flirting and near-romantic moments, I'd enjoy seeing how they finally get together. Feel free to embrace the tropes here! Undercover as a couple and it turns real? A near-miss or faked death leads Annie to realize how she feels and admit it to Eyal? An inconvenient encounter with truth serum leads to a confession and reciprocation? They get stuck in a time loop and eventually fall in love and get married in one of the loops, only to have it end right after? They're held prisoner together, and afterwards realize they can't live without each other? Or run with something more specific to the show. Complicated one-night stands and ongoing relationships are both welcome.
Alternately, jump ahead a bit and show what their life together might look like if they did find a way to be together. Do they both quit and start their own security business? Do they sail off into the sunset on Eyal's boat (with visits back to Israel for Avi)? Do they try to find a way to have it all, work and relationship?

This is another show about two smart, highly competent people who develop an appreciation for the other's professional skills. This show isn't particularly interested in gritty reality, or at least not more than selectively — see, for example, Sylvia's seemingly endless supply of money, many helpful contacts even though she no longer works for MI6, and her delightfully decrepit house, with romantically crumbling stone and no signs of mould. I'm perfectly fine with sticking with that tone, only bringing in the darkness you're interested in exploring in the story while blithely ignoring inconvenient realities. Although if you'd like to address one or more of these factors, you're free to do that as well.
For specific ideas, maybe a local disaster leaves them trapped together, possibly with one injured, trying to survive and get help, or maybe they're held captive together and have to escape or hold out until rescued. Maybe Giovanni asks some oblique questions about Sylvia's past as an MI6 agent. Maybe they discuss their marriages and how they failed, or Giovanni heads back to Bari to start his legal separation from his wife. Maybe the two of them take a trip to Bari together so Sylvia can see where he lived for twenty years. Maybe Sylvia meets Giovanni's cousin in Perugia and hears some interesting stories, or dinner with Matteo and Isabelle leads to some stories about Sylvia from Isabelle. Or just follow through on their date at the end of the third episode, how that dinner goes and where it leads.

I knew nothing about F4 racing going into Overtake!, but the themes of this show are so much broader than that. Trauma, forgiveness, competition, self-improvement, drawing inspiration from the people around you - it's a charming show, and really emotionally full. All the characters get moments of depth and reflection, and they're each delightful in their own way.
With the way the relationship dynamics unfold, I felt like I was being invited to ship Satsuki/Toshiki, Kotarou/Haruka, and Haruka/Kouya - but Overtake ALSO gave me middle-aged men, and I went sprinting right past the pretty boys in pursuit. :D I adore Futoshi, he's such a kind, supportive dad, and I want him to have some happiness that's all his own (even though he'd be perfectly satisfied just watching his boys succeed 🥺). Alternatively, Ena's mild asshole megane vibes are delightful - he's got just an hint of rich entitled jerk as well, not to the point of being malicious but just enough thoughtlessness and selfishness to make things fun.
Ena/Satsuki: Seeing Ena take Haruka out to a fancy romantic dinner made me wonder how many of his drivers he's wooed that way. I like the thought of Satsuki using his flirtiness to win his position on the team, and Ena deciding to take the flirting seriously to see how Satsuki reacts. "Ladies' man playboy enters an arrangement with an older man" is an all-time favourite - anything lightly transactional, or compensated dating where Satsuki trades sex for special privileges, would be so much fun.
Ena/Futoshi: I love that they're still on friendly terms after all these years, even though they're officially rivals. Despite the huge gap in how much money they have to invest in racing, they're both clearly passionate about it and have a long-standing connection based on that shared love. Pre-canon, I'd enjoy a bit of a love triangle with Haruka's dad, or just two guys in their prime blowing off steam together. During or after canon, what I most want to see is Ena enjoying making Futoshi happy, in some capacity - maybe taking him on a vacation for his birthday? Middle-aged guys being cute and romantic is my absolute fave 😍
Futoshi/Kouya: Another two middle-aged guys who could be cute and romantic together! The two of them getting to know each other as Kouya spends more time around Komaki Motors and at races, Futoshi being interested in the technical/mechanical aspects of cameras, sitting down for a relaxing drink at an izakaya, going to the public baths together - there are so many fun possibilities for missing scenes. Since they both have previous marriages to women, anything about their different experiences or discoveries of being bisexual would be fun. IDK, I just want these two guys who've been through a lot to find joy in each other!

Usui/Isarizawa: I like their unlikely alliance, at the fringes of their respective organizations and working towards a common goal. Can't help reading Isarizawa as a flirty hedonist, and I feel like he and Usui are each intrigued by each other. They share a lot of values in common, but they've ended up on opposite sides of the law.
Teppa/Raizo: Total crack prompt, but I think a medical exam gone awry/horny would be very fun with these two. Teppa seems like he's good at figuring out what people need, and Raizo could really use a moment to forget his worries and relax.

Jien is such a sweet, protective big brother (to a truly extraordinary degree), and Gojyo loves and depends on him so much as a kid. Such a fun variety of characters! I'm always weak to a party of adventurers, and these ones stole my heart. Everyone brings something unique to the game, and I love that each of them has a different challenge they're grappling with that unfolds over their story. There's so much depth and complexity to everyone's motivations and experiences - lots to explore. I'd be into a post-canon setting after the main storylines are complete; a casefic/questfic similar to a story chapter or a side story; a getting-together story while they're on the road adventuring; or smut/PWP.
Olberic/Alfyn: These two both have a strong thread of honour, duty, and protecting people, and I feel there's so much common ground for them to explore. I'm also a huge fan of two manly guys being into each other, especially if they're both a little graceless when it comes to love and courtship. Maybe during battle, Olberic blocks a blow meant for Alfyn, and Alfyn uses his gratitude as an excuse to approach Olberic. Or maybe Alfyn starts flirting and gets less and less subtle when Olberic acts oblivious, until Olberic finally has to give him an answer.
Cyrus/Alfyn: I like that these two share a path action of getting information, and the different ways they go about it - Alfyn's friendly gossiping versus Cyrus barraging people with questions is fun. I'd love the two of them getting closer and learning from each other (my research methods nerd side is delighted by the contrasting qualitative-quantitative approaches). I also have a huge soft spot for Cyrus coming to trust Alfyn enough that he goes to Alfyn with his questions about sex and relationships - and maybe Alfyn trusts him enough in return to offer to demonstrate.
Alfyn/Zeph: I'm afraid I love doomed and/or one-sided love, especially with childhood friends! Maybe Alfyn and Zeph were together when they were younger, but Zeph considered it a youthful diversion and broke things off. Maybe Alfyn is secretly happy to leave his hometown so that he can try to recover from his broken heart. Or maybe Zeph realizes his true feelings after Alfyn is away for such a long time, and they get together once Alfyn's main story is complete. I'm into the angst of wanting someone you think you can't have, and trying (perhaps failing) to get over a long-standing crush. Feel free to include Mercedes or not; I like polyamory and I also like cheating/infidelity, there are no bad options. :)

I went into this game not knowing much and was so delightfully surprised! "Oh cool, siblings. I wonder if I'll end up shipping them?" I thought as I started playing, not knowing what a feast I would be served. Ashley and Andrew are so devoted to each other, and SO weird and messed-up about it. 😍 I'd be happy with speculation on what's happened between their childhoods and the present day, some pre/early-canon "two people stuck in a small apartment" shenanigans, anything set during or after canon so far - I'm pretty easy!
I like that the overall atmosphere leans towards darkly comedic, as a foil for the oppressive sense of dread and looming secrets, and the way the cartoonish approach to violence and cute sprite art are juxtaposed with the outrageously horrible events unfolding.
On the flip side, Andrew and Ashley have a firmly entrenched dynamic of manipulation, blackmail, and threats, and I'd love to see much more of that. The way they do awful things to each other, because they know exactly how far they can go before they won't be forgiven - absolute perfection. I'd prefer *not* to see them communicating well, respecting boundaries, or negotiating intimacy or kink; please let them be toxic and messed-up.
I'm fine with a bad end if that's where your heart leads you, since they do both make a lot of comments about killing the other person. But I also have a soft spot for the two of them managing to find some kind of dysfunctional happiness among the fucked-up circumstances of their lives.

Hi. I nommed all of these ships for the bit. I am not actually in this fandom (although it was a huge part of my childhood lol). I just think it would be actually hilarious and I think I would genuinely like reading some well-written fic of these ships if I get matched based on this. But yeah I went for as much toxic yuri and just general unicorn shenanigans that I could. Have fun.
Literally my only specific request here is that you keep the non-reformed versions of villain characters for at least one of the members of the ship pairs. (That way the yuri stays toxic! Giles/Willow: I like the fascination/history that both of these have with books and magic. Both of them are multifaceted: Giles can be the warmhearted mentor or the formidable, ruthless Watcher. Willow is one of the most tender-hearted characters on the show (the only one with sympathy for chipped Spike in S4) but she can be dangerous if she's pushed. I think there's a lot of warmth and mutual respect between the two (that gets sorely tested in later seasons) and a lot of differences that could be fodder for conflict/angst.
Prompt #1: After the events of Wrecked, Willow goes to England to work with the coven there; Giles and Willow hammer out their differences from earlier in the season.
Prompt #2: The telepathic link established between Willow and Giles in "Grave" continues past the events of that episode, causing some hidden feelings to be unearthed.
Prompt #3: Post canon, established relationship: There's a magical mishap and one of them has to rescue the other. Could be angsty or ridiculous.
Riley/Willow:
These two had great on-screen chemistry, and I feel like there's a lot of common ground (they're both smart, awkward, and insecure) and some interesting differences that could be fodder for conflict/angst (he's a church-attending Christian, she's Jewish/Wiccan, he's an army man who follows rules, she's a hacker who thinks rules are meant to be broken).
1) AU Season 4: Buffy makes sense on paper, so why is Riley drawn to Willow instead?
2) AU Season 5 Established Relationship: Riley's tiny, emotionally vulnerable girlfriend is getting powerful enough to fight a goddess. How does he come to terms with any perceived power imbalance?

God I love this movie. Sarah is such a terrifically complex heroine, and I'm so glad that Nyles appreciated her awesomeness and was part of her well-earned happy ending.
1) In the movie, Sarah wants to move forward from the time loop, and Nyles finds the predictability comforting. Once they've escaped the time loop, do those different approaches come up again? I'm pretty much down for anything with these three in any reboot, rebirth on earth, or any canon-divergent AU. I really love how good these two are together. Trent is a bit of an idiot, but he's so sincere and I feel like the balances Eleanor's flights of fancy. I like them both; I like them even more together.
