I don't want to be a drama llama here but do people not understand the general expectation of commenting on fics that are written for them? I wonder if something more explicit than 'comments and kudos are always appreciate' needs to be stated because there realky seems to be an epidemic of not getting it.

It's been like two days since the collection opened.

And 1. people are doing things like posting about their fics without commenting on the post, or commenting on other fics but not the ones written for them 2. This is an ongoing problem with large exchanges so people may not be wanting to give benefit of the doubt. Nothing in the candy hearts info that I could see mentionsthe expectation tocomment on your gifts so 'do people know they ought to do this' is an honest question.

Some exchanges require comments and kudos to participate again for the next time around, but those are like 10,000 word fics, because it’s disheartening and draining to write such a large fic and the person intended for never acknowledged it. I just requested never to be paired with them again and the people that ran the exchange were ok with that.

So, yes, if the person intended for never kudos or comments should be polite and at least do the kudos, but you can’t make them. I’m sure others enjoy the work and are delighted to see such awesomensss out in the world. There’s a silver lining to that.

Feedback is really nice, but isn’t the point of an exchange that you get a gift yourself too? Like sure I did the work of writing for someone, but someone else also wrote for me, that more than makes up for my giftee not wanting to comment/not having time or energy to.
Idk I know the lack of feedback has been an ongoing discussion in fandom in general, so it’s probably just an extension of that same problem within exchange spaces. It is what it is 😔
